With a deep love and respect for education, I have spent my adult life studying literature and the art of storytelling. Now I love to share that knowledge and those stories with audiences of all ages. As a research librarian at an Australian university, I use every type of technology at my disposal but ensure that I never get so busy multi-tasking that I forget to use the greatest information skill available – the ability to absorb and share stories.
As a qualified librarian, I have been fortunate to work across two Australian states, in special, public, joint school/public and a tertiary library. In those roles I helped to archive and catalogue a significant historical photographic collection, worked with thousands of children and young adults and their parents, and mentored other librarians just beginning their careers. Iended my full-time library career supporting the research needs of academics and post graduate students at one of the most beautiful university campuses in Australia, if not the world. Ok, I may be a little biased, but trust me, it really is a stunning campus.
I am now happily retired but still doing storytelling and proofreading on a freelance basis. Home is where much of the work happens and is perched on a hilltop with a view of hills and bush. I love the work/life balance I now enjoy. If I'm not at home, pottering in my ever-expanding food garden or in the kitchen creating something delicious with the bounty, I'll be spending time with family and friends or out on the open road on a caravan adventure with my beloved husband.
Wherever I am, you can be sure that a knitting project, either for me, for family or a commissioned pieces is close at hand. It's a blessed life and one I'm grateful for every day.
